Brew Justice

This is a campaign started in 2008 by one of our friends in the Revolt Network, Brew Justice, by campaigning through your local Starbucks.

While Starbucks is doing notable work in their Shared Planet™ efforts to bring ethically traded coffee to their stores and homes (according to their website, Starbucks is now the largest buyer of Certified Fair Trade Coffee in the world), we still want to champion them to bring the same dedication to their tea, chocolate, sugars, syrups and pastries.

 

First and foremost, all our efforts are rooted in love and with that as our foundation, we personally know many people, including ourselves, who frequent Starbucks for coffee, tea, internet and study. This campaign is never an attack (physical or metaphorical) on any or anyone at a Starbucks and because of this, it means anyone can be easily involved.

The next time you are at one of their locations, take part in our Brew Justice, Starbucks campaign...



It's simple:

1. The next time you go to Starbucks for your Fair Trade latté, head on over to their counter with the milk, sugar, napkins, etc. and you should see a handy-dandy comment card, complete with a self-addressed stamp on it.

2. Fill out the comments box and be sure to add a message of love and justice to the form.

3. Here is a sample:
Dear Starbucks. I want you to Brew Justice! I would love it if you had a wider selection of fairly traded coffee as well as carrying fairly trades teas, chocolates, sugar and pastries. I love what you have done in the UK to promote trade justice and would love to see it in America as well. I know you can be a leader in brewing every cup with a heart of justice. Sincerely, John Doe and all my friends at BrewJustice.com.

4. MAKE SURE YOU MENTION BREWJUSTICE.COM. If you would like you can download the Brew Justice logo and print out stickers or design a rubber stamp from the logo: Click here to download it.

5. If possible, make sure you mark down the which store number it is on the address side of the comment card. The store managers will know this.

6. Also, be sure to fill in your own address and information. We know this is not necessary to mail your comments, but Starbucks HQ will send you a reply. It's always great to collect these replies and track the progress and the campaign.

7. Note: DO NOT GIVE TO THE MANAGER. Place it in the mail as this will go to their corporate offices. Our experience has been that the manager won't mail the comment cards in themselves, especially if our comments have nothing to do with their particular store.
