day twenty nine
Week Five Focus: Death (Silence)
This is the start of the Fifth Week where we focus on the death of ourselves by silencing our wants, needs, desires and place our eyes on the King of Glory as we prepare for our resurrection with Him, so we might be a People of Resurrection with Him on the earth.
Daily Fixation
Start with this prayer of fixing our eyes on Jesus:Jesus, what in my life do I need to silence to hear you more clearly? What are you wanting to teach me as I silence my life and put to death all things that keep me from drawing closer to you?Today's Reflection
Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD; For the day of the LORD is at hand, for the LORD has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests. ~ Zephaniah 1:7You can have hundreds of acquaintances, dozens of friends, your spouse or best friend, but, no matter how loving, no matter how close or supportive they all may be, while they may show you the love of God, and the Spirit of God lives within them, they are not God.
We are left alone. But somehow not lonely.
Ultimately, at some point, for all of us, it comes down to just being…
alone….
with God.
Jesus prayed to His Father in John 17:3:"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
We may fill our days with many to-do’s, even to-do’s that refer to God, talking about God, reading about God, advancing the Kingdom of God. But too often those take the place of what our souls truly seek: to be One with God. To be with God. That’s where I am called to be right now. Come with me?
Prayer For The World:
End with this prayer of fixing our hearts, minds, ears, eyes, feet and hands on our local and global world:Jesus, I pray for those around the world who face death through disease, hunger, illness, AIDS, depression and despair. I pray that you would bring them comfort and that in my feeble words, you would connect me to them, because you know each and every one by their names. You see them so be with those whom I cannot see and may Your Presence draw nearer to them, bringing comfort, peace, encouragement, Your light and Your love.
